This is the fourth time I’ve written a post with this title, each time marking a pivotal moment in life and in my ZENish journey.
The title is in reference to the Ani Pema Chödrön book with the same title; a work I read each time such a pivotal moment arrives… a.k.a., when things fall apart.
Annihilation
“Only to the extent that we expose ourselves over and over to annihilation can that which is indestructible be found in us.” - Ani Pema Chödrön
This time, I’m moving house, ending a long-term relationship, and beginning again. The details are unimportant, but the parting is amicable and without betrayal from either of us.
However, I find myself crossing bridges that, at age 65, I wasn’t aware were in my immediate future. And yet, here I am.
Again.
The quote from Pema aprovides an opportunity to frame this present reality; like the refining of precious metals in a crucible, my current reality is further clarifying what is indestructible.
