SUPPORTING OTHER WRITERS DOESN'T ALWAYS MEAN SUBSCRIBING
With the launch of Substack Notes earlier this week, we writers and readers are rejoicing at the sheer volume of new writers and creatives the tool shares with us.
Who knew there was a Substack on pond turtle mating habits? Of course, you want to subscribe! «click» Hooray for being supportive of your fellow writers!
Naturally, we want to support writers, whom, like us, hope one day to support themselves with their craft, and this is a laudable thing to do.
But is it truly the wise choice to subscribe to them all?
“Of course, I’m not subscribing to them all, Baz. C’mon. gimme a little credit, will ya?”
Right… you’re right. But I’d be willing to bet that you’ve subscribed to at least half a dozen since Monday… like I have. eye-roll
It’s a natural response to want to support our fellow writers by subscribing to their free Substack. Sometimes, we find such a great fit with a writer that we jump in with paid subscription right off the bat.
